But we have also seen that the different forms of our reactions are not solely dependent on the nature of our religious belief, geographic location or social status.  Everyone of same religion, same geographic location or social status is not reacting to this experience the same way.  Hence there must be more to what evokes our reactions to an experience than the aforementioned.

This writer is of the conviction that our experiencing of events and our reactions to them accord with our spiritual development. Thus the myriad of reactions to this experience attest to the fact that we are all at different stages of spiritual development here on earth.

But this assertion does not provide a justification for one to be judgmental on fellow human beings; for only the Almighty can judge and He is Justice in perfection.  

The deeper and  wider one searches, the more one finds. Who in his rightful mind still doubts the existence of worlds beyond the perceptive capacity of our physical eyes, seeing what’s going on now? Here is a monster raging and glaringly unleashing untold devastation on us all, yet we cannot see it nor feel it.  It’s in a world which accords with its nature.

On a mundane level, this experience is indeed providing a pivotal moment for the corrupt ones among our leaders in the developing countries. Now some of them are personally experiencing the direct effects of their cruel actions. They are now seeing that they are indeed laying the ground work for future self-inflicted pains and hardship when they loot their respective country’s treasuries, save them in developed countries believing that they can always go and squander them on sophisticated facilities and life styles there, anytime they wish. Here they are, stuck in their countries, the sick ones being compelled to make use of their neglected facilities; facilities they refused to develop when they were given the golden opportunity to effect it. Surely this should send them into sober reflections.

No doubt, the solitude proffered by our confinement at home has forced many to reflect about life and indeed deepened our understandings of each other. Most importantly with no ready access to our religious leaders, we are now being compelled and conditioned into seeking a direct connection with our Creator, individually.  Many are now seeing that this is fulfilling.  It cannot be otherwise if earnestly done, as it lies in the Will of our Creator.

Certainly if this alone is the conviction gained through this experience, we have gained much.

NO doubt, the novel coronavirus has been a multi-headed monster, raging; bringing the ugly, the bad and also effecting the good along its path. The ugly and the bad are glaring to most of us;  COVID-19 says it all, but the goods proffered are like needles in the haystack. They are there to be picked if one searches deep and wide for them.

Sorrowful and painful but much is being given to us as we are ushered into the new.

Certainly, the good that cannot but readily leap onto one as one searches comes with the necessary changes in our life styles we are being encouraged to make through new policies and ordinances. These policies, in their varying forms stipulating social distancing, face mask wearing etc. are in effect compelling us to live every minute by the age old axioms:

“Love thy Neighbor as Thyself.”

“Do on to others as you want them to do onto you.”

“Be Your Brother’s Keeper.” etc.

These golden sayings from time immemorial! COVID-19 has indeed brought their actualization into being; be it through wearing of face mask, maintaining social distancing or self –quarantine, it’s all about giving the necessary consideration to others.

In essence, we are being compelled to actualize that which is the key to mankind’s development and ascent; selfless love.

As one digs deeper one cannot but see that this pandemic has shown all and sundries that; “Man is Man,” no matter the guise in which he is, his race, social status or religious belief.  Religious belief only helps to shape the mode of activities of the inner core of man.  It does not change its nature and its essence nor does it change the nature of the physical exterior.

Thus for this strand of RNA, coronavirus, man is the same everywhere. Wealth, race, religion or social status does not bequeath superiority on anyone.  If we are thus before this microbe, not even visible via a regular microscope, how much more before our Creator before Whom the best of us can never be good enough?  

Religion, upbringing and environmental factors do indeed play their roles in molding our personalities and our perception of events. That’s undeniably true.  

Thus we have also seen with this experience; same virus, same disease with similar symptoms albeit at varying levels and resulting in multitudes of deaths all over but evoking a myriad of different reactions from the various facets of our society.
